Perdido Key Sunrise Beach Portraits

In my opinion there is absolutely nothing better that a Perdido Key sunrise beach portraits session. The hot summer heat just hasn’t set in yet, and the empty beach creates a perfect spot for fun. I get it all the time, “there is no way my kids will smile that early”, well that is absolutely the opposite of what normally happens. The beach at sunrise is a spot for adventure and discovery. Sometimes that discover is that your kids are actually morning people. We had a mom from last week at sunrise email us yesterday that the kids enjoyed the sunrise so much they have actually woke up early every day on vacation to spend a little time at the beach all by themselves, before retreating to the air conditioning during the hot mid morning sun. Family Beach Photography in Perdido Key

This mornings sunrise session was absolutely beautiful. Sure it was early, but as they say, the early bird gets the worm. The worm in this case is a perfect sunrise backdrop, and empty beaches. The sunrises are also way more comfortable than the sunset sessions this time of year. This morning when we started, the temperature was a cool 74 degrees. At the start of last night’s sunset session, the temperature was a blistering 93 degrees. Perdido Key Vacation

Do you dream of the beach? I have found myself lately dreaming of the beach. Be it the cold winter air, or the absence of sand in between my toes, I miss the beach. I know the time will be here soon enough where we will be meeting you to take your families portrait. That idea still doesn’t make the winter any better. I mean I want summer to come tomorrow. I promise to welcome it with open arms. Just as we will welcome you while on your very own Perdido Key vacation. In the mean time we will brave this cold air and venture to the beach with shoes on. We struck out on a sunrise adventure this morning to show you a unique perspective of the beach. The brave sea oat that withstands just about anything mother nature can throw at it. We as humans spend countless hours and money to save and restore them, for very good reason. Not only are they beautiful, they are the protectors of our coast line. Senior Beach Pictures

One of my absolute favorite type session is Senior beach pictures. They are always so much fun. Senior sessions normally are a little more relaxed than a two year old baby session, but do require the same amount of attention. Every hair must be perfect, the smile must be natural, the setting must be as well as look serene. These portraits mean so much. Senior beach pictures are a way that the Senior can leave his or her mark. These shots are gonna be the ones that go down in history in each’s year book. Rocking these shots is so very important. They must be over the top, and spot on. Well we rocked it this morning at sunrise, it was a picture perfect event all the way around. Our Senior was the perfect subject. Beach Photographer

One of my favorite parts of family beach photography at sunrise or sunset is using the sun as an element of the photograph. You would think it would be easy to use the sunrise or sunset in photography, but it actually is one of the hardest parts of portrait work. When we first started our journey in professional photography, we quickly decided that this one element would set us apart from the growing crowd because it took craft. A craft that is not easily learned, and a craft that took years to truly develop into perfection. A craft that we love, and a craft that we embrace. Sure it would be a lot easier to use natural light and ignore the prettiest element on the beach at the twilight hour, but that is a compromise we refused to take. Thus we drag out all our heavy equipment through the deep sand, and we create art. Art which is hard to duplicate, and comparable to a oil painter’s master rendition of life and world combined. Gulf Shores Portraits

One of my absolute favorite shots comes before the sun even rises. Its a shot we often miss because not all families are true early birds. Thanks goodness these fellows were though. It is truly a blessing for showing up early to a sunrise session. We call this shot, “Fire on the water”. I learned this shot from one of the few masters of photography while he was alive. It is a simple technique, but one that took years of practice to master. Not exactly easy balancing the studio strobe with the ambient light and letting the pier lights dance on the water. But when done correctly, it screams professional. Thats why I guess I like it so much, because it really is a shot not many can even think about getting. You know us, we love doing unique work and this is really a great example of that. Thanks fellows for waking up early and spending a little time with us on the beach. Perdido Key Professional Photography

We meet a handsome little fellow at our sunrise session this morning. He was full of passion and energy. Mom told us that he had made more than one photographer throw their hands up and just quit in the past. We laughed for a few said and said not to worry, we got this. It took mom a few seconds to realize we weren’t your average bear. Once her smile was ear to ear, we were already in full swing. To be honest we really didn’t understand what mom was talking about because this fellow was not only interesting, but was very easy to photograph. He was such a little poser! He was highly interested in every move we made, and really wanted to see exactly what was going on behind the lens. Our session just didn’t last long enough. Neither he nor I wanted to quit. We were having such a blast. When it comes down to it, if something is fun, kids are always interested. I just can’t imagine the terror the other previous photographers had inflicted on this little guy. Toes in the Sand!

What is more simple than toes in the sand? In my mind there is absolutely nothing better in life than a hot summer day with the sun shining on your face, the wind blowing your hair, and your toes in the sand. Add some waves lapping at your ankles, and you have what we like to call a great vacation. With your family by your side, life just doesn’t get any better than this. I am pretty sure some guy even wrote a song about it because it is just so good. It is what most people dream about when you are stuck behind a computer with the kids in summer day camp. When life gets too hectic, it is just so easy to recharge by simple putting your toes in the sand. A simple task with tons of reward. Beach Vacation

One of the absolute coolest things to do is a child is hang out in the sand on a good old fashion family beach vacation. Families have been making journeys to the coast since the beginning of time. It is just something we are all pre-programmed todo. Who wouldn’t want to just chill out and relax with their toes in the sand. No only do grown ups get to relax and rewind, kids also smile and take the opportunity to let the problems of the real world melt away. We completely understand that summer reading list can be a bummer, but what better place to knock it out than at the beach. At least that is what our smiling little ten year old told us this morning at sunrise. She was super excited to get in some good old rest and relaxation, not to mention work on her tan. Mom and dad seemed to agree that beach time is the best time, and they too also kicked their flops off and had a good time at the photoshoot. Orange Beach Family Photographers

The last time we worked with this cute little family, the little fellow was a mere bun in the oven. Well we finally got to meet him today and we are so happy we had the opportunity too. The girls were cute as ever, and growing like little twigs. Thanks guys for allowing us another opportunity to work with your family. Not only do we get to see just how much the kids have grown, we get to see what else is going on in everyones lives. Gulf Shores Senior Portraits

We had the distinct pleasure of working with one outstanding high school senior this morning at sunrise. Not only did this kid rock her session, she was a pleasure to photograph. With all sunrise senior sessions, everyone always arrives a little bit anxious. It really is a big deal waking up at sunrise, and add to the stress of just wondering if the alarm is actually going to go off, you have to be hair fixed and dressed while being ready to go way before the crack of dawn. Not something most would consider fun while on vacation. Well that is until they actually arrive and the realize, hey this is gonna be fun. Special thanks to our outstanding senior from this morning for falling fast into the fun part. Your attitude was wonderful, and it made working with a pleasure. That’s what truly makes sessions roll. Gulf Shores Family Photography

First sunrise session this year, and what a success. My favorite sessions are always at sunrise. Not only is the beach completely empty, the light is always the best. Kids usually have a lot more fun too! These three were no exception to that rule. We had such a wonderful time and it really shows in their faces. The little one was so cute too! She just made our day. You could ask her anything, and she would respond with a huge grin followed by a YES… Turns out when we asked if it was her birthday, it probably was and she wanted to celebrate it on the beach. So off we went on a birthday adventure to hunt for pink and purple mermaids. Everyone was all smiles to that, like who wouldn’t want to go to a sunrise birthday party at the beach in search of pink and purple mermaids. We were sure happy to have such a lucky invitation.
