In today’s digital age, true professional photographers are a dying breed. The art of photography is not something that happens just by pushing a button. Sure anyone can take a snapshot and call themselves a professional, but the artwork is really falling short these days. Dynamic images are really hard to come by. Many many factors go into making a photograph that will become a true family heirloom. Most feel that it is as simple as saving snapshots to a thumb drive, and they couldn’t be further from the truth. There are many steps in the process that have been lost. Over the past decade, the photography industry as a whole has lost a lot. The information is still available, but the vast majority of professionals seem to no longer seek the knowledge to make a perfect portrait. Mentors have been traded in for you-tube videos. It is as if for some miraculous reason, professionals don’t even need the proper tools anymore, you wouldn’t believe how many new photographers come up and ask us, what is that you are using, as if they have never even seen a light meter before. As my teenage niece puts it, I am “scratching my head”. Years of experience will win out over you-tube any day of the week, and unless you have someone teach you a craft, the art will never develop correctly.
It is sad but true, most pros in the digital age great at pushing the button but only understand one task, and that is counting your money. Don’t fall trap to this, seek out professionals that understand the art and embrace them. They are still around, if we are not the right company for you, that is fine, at least reach out to us and we can point you in the right direction. That direction is art that you will cherish for years to come. You should go home from vacation with a feeling of wow, these vacation photographs are wonderful, not how much did we spend for this thumb drive of bad snapshots.
