Did we mention we love professional photography in Gulf Shores? Well if you haven’t heard me screaming it by now, here goes, “I LOVE MAKING ART!!!” There is something about capturing moments in time that really appeals to me. Though it is present, as soon as my shutter snaps it becomes history. Being a history buff, I am thrilled to capture it in high definition I guess. This has been a major driving force over the years that has pushed our art to the upper limits. I understand these new age photographers make fun of the old schoolers like us, but hey, I am proud to be one. Sure gadgets can make your life easier, but things like photography have rules. Rules you must know and rules you must follow. Sure gadgets can memorize the rules and take the art out of the making of the image but I have never been one to rely on a robot to make my coffee. One of the favorite parts of my job being a professional portrait photographer in Gulf Shores is repeat clients. I get no greater joy than watching families grow and develop through my lens. Family Vacation Memories

There is nothing better than making moms happy on Mother’s Day with perfect family vacation memories. We had the pleasure of working with this beautiful mom and her precious family yesterday afternoon, and it turned out wonderful. The weather was perfect, the beach was perfect, heck everything was perfect. I am absolutely positive this will be a Mother’s Day she will not soon forget. We just get a sense of satisfaction when everything comes together like this. Family Beach Pictures in Gulf Shores

The sun was out yesterday and we had the distinct opportunity of working with this cute little BIRTHDAY gal. She was one yesterday, and let me tell you what, she had an awesome beach party. We had a ton of fun, and even though it is February, you couldn’t tell it by the background. While most of the country is still in winter cycle, we are currently enjoying a rather nice flip flop wearing spell. Thank goodness too, because we had so much fun playing on the beach with our new found friend. We are so glad her mom called us for her family beach pictures in Gulf Shores, one-year-old parties are just so much fun. We spent the afternoon looking for sea shells and adventures along the shore. The warmth of the sun on our faces was amazing, and all couldn’t believe it was still winter. That is what I absolutely love about living on the Gulf of Mexico. Over the past fifteen years I have witnessed things on our beach that I am just not proud of. Over the years it has become a huge problem of people leaving tents, chairs, toys, etc. behind at night. Sure it is easier to pile everything up and let it await your return the next day, but easy doesn’t equal right. What people don’t realize is the impact of leaving it all behind. First off, if a storm comes in the middle of the night, chances are everything is simple swept into the Gulf. It is sad but true, it happens. Second, nesting turtles get stuck in the pile, or simple hit the pile, and turn around without leaving eggs behind. Without scratching heads, we as a community don’t have to guess why turtles are disappearing quickly. It is a major problem, and thank goodness voices like ours have finally been heard, and the local municipalities are finally on board and making changes to how we treat our most precious resource. Beach Adventure

We had the distinct opportunity of going on a little beach adventure last night at sunset. We encountered a vast number of things. First we spotted dolphins, then we went on the hunt for the hidden sea shell treasures our coast has to offer. We even spent a little time on the hunt for mermaids, but fell short because we didn’t bring the special mermaid whistle to call her up. Needless to say we had a blast, and our clients had the opportunity of finding a few family heirlooms along the way. Like todays shot of the day, it is super simple, but contains a message that will not soon be forgotten. This time of year our winter guest, aka the snowbirds, are migrating back home way up north, and the love birds are moving in to take advantage of the tropical air while on their Gulf Shores beach vacation. Last night we had an opportunity of meeting one such love bird couple. These two have actually been in each others lives since they were both in diapers. A very cute couple indeed. I absolute love couples photography sessions. In my mind a couple photography session must encompass a very broad spectrum while delivering the end product of togetherness. We love to incorporate posed ideas into our candid shots, as if we were just tagging along on your beach vacation. Merely showing happy smile faces normally doesn’t solely flip the bill. Fun Family Beach Photography

Well spring break 2016 is finally here, and we had the opportunity to work with an awesome family at last night’s sunset session. Needless to say in the fashion of spring break, we had a lot of fun. With the two older boys in a college football program, and the third well on his way, the mom thought it was best to bring a football to brighten up the spirits. Needless to say, it worked well. Sure the youngest didn’t like it very much when we played monkey in the middle, but all in all the boys had a great time. No only did the boys have fun, mom got what she had been hoping for for years, an awesome family portrait on the beach. That is why we stress the fun in Fun family beach photography. With a rainy day like today, it is easy to get jealous of the weather we had just yesterday. You couldn’t imagine a better fall beach day. The sunset was absolutely stunning, and these two little ham bones were enjoying their fall beach vacation to the fullest. We had the beach all to ourselves, and these two built sand castles, admired the blue herring that hung around for a while, and spied for dolphins. They thought they saw pirates for just a little bit, but it turned out to be two old men fishing, WHO KNEW! It is so nice to be able to work with such wonderful families. A bonus like last nights group, whom are repeat customers, is when clients come see us again and again. Senior Beach Portraits Photographer

Senior beach portraits are a great way to set your senior portraits apart from the rest of the crowd. Like today’s shot of the day, this senior from last nights sunset was looking for something far different from the rest of the fellows at his high school. He was positive he wanted a shot that said exactly who he was, and that was a kid that loved the beach, vacation, and a lot of family time. Well with a little effort, we were able to get a ton of images for them to choose from. I am almost positive we got more than a few that screamed pick me, pick me. Gulf Shores Vacations

While most littles are back in school dreaming about Gulf Shores vacations, this little cutie found her spot in the sand and was living the dream. Nothing better than those little piggy toes in the sand. Most experts agree one hour on the beach is the equivalent to twenty hours at a spa. At least that is what wiki links said, not sure who these experts are, but we really like them. Back to the subject at hand, our shot of the day is from last night’s sunset, and this little princess was an absolute blessing to work with. She was just so happy and really loved being at the beach, which made our job super fun and easy. I just love having children that love to have fun and pose. They are so cute and easy to work with. Sure it is fun putting on puppet shows, but sometimes being entertained is a lot easier than being the entertainer. A special thanks to this little princess for being such a fine model. Professional Family Portraits

Happy babies are so much fun. Not only are their smiles contagious, their happy little attitudes are too! This little guy was such a blessing to be around. Not saying I was having a bad day or anything, but with the heat of August, it wasn’t exactly a jump up and down and run around the yard kinda day. Well that changed instantly the first minute we meet this little booger. I mean he turned both of our frowns up side down. We was so cute with his perm-a-grin, we just couldn’t resist letting our guard down and have a little fun while we got to know this little guy. By the end of the session my side actually hurt from laughing so hard, and I didn’t even care you could almost fry and egg on the sand an hour earlier. Though the sunset did bring some cool refreshing winds which were much needed after one of probably the absolute hottest days of the year. Gulf Shores Senior Beach Portraits

One of my absolute favorite type sessions is Gulf Shores senior beach portraits. I know I have said it a thousand times but here it goes again. These shots are so important for a kid. I mean they are the shots that are going to be what everyone else remembers them by. That is why we don’t take senior beach portraits lightly. We throw every bit of our professional knowledge into these sessions because we want to rock them in every single way. I really feel it pays off too. The seniors always reflect with a huge grin on their face at the end of each session. They just know that we went above and beyond the call of duty and helped them achieve something unique and different from all their peers. I always like to imagine myself in their shoes, constantly asking myself the questions like, would I like this pose, or does the lighting look natural, are we getting enough trendy shots, are we getting too trendy, are the shots unique, are we making the posed shots look natural, etc, etc, etc… A special thanks to our sunrise senior from this morning for bringing such a great attitude. Gulf Shores Portraits

One of my absolute favorite shots comes before the sun even rises. Its a shot we often miss because not all families are true early birds. Thanks goodness these fellows were though. It is truly a blessing for showing up early to a sunrise session. We call this shot, “Fire on the water”. I learned this shot from one of the few masters of photography while he was alive. It is a simple technique, but one that took years of practice to master. Not exactly easy balancing the studio strobe with the ambient light and letting the pier lights dance on the water. But when done correctly, it screams professional. Thats why I guess I like it so much, because it really is a shot not many can even think about getting. You know us, we love doing unique work and this is really a great example of that. Thanks fellows for waking up early and spending a little time with us on the beach. Sunset Beach Pictures

Somedays we show up to work and we find out our clients have a little something we like to call hipster style. Last night’s sunset session was one of those occasions. This little guy had what the hipsters call swag. I mean even his steps had a little swagger. I am positive he had about twenty girlfriends all fighting for his undivided attention. He had a pleasant gentleman like way about him too. Very polite and gently spoken. What a fine young fellow to work with. He really had a lot of fun and he made the session really enjoyable. He was just so eager to pose and help us get the perfect shot. Thanks little man, we really had a good time working with you. Gulf Shores Family Photographer

Discovery is a very important activity as a child. The more a child discovers, the more their mind develops. We must immerse our children in all sorts of activities. The more the better. It is a very crucial step in proper early childhood development. When we immerse our children in activities that are out of the norm, they are able to adapt and evolve in ways that others might not. When you add super stimulants like the beach, you not only get a family vacation, you open a child’s eyes to another world of opportunity. Take for instance our little princess from last night’s sunset session. Her discovery of the beach might just lead to her becoming a marine biologist in the future. She might be the scientist that saves the planet from global warming by discovering an algae than eats carbon dioxide. The Beach Club

When I think of family vacation spots, one of my absolute favorites is the Beach Club in Gulf Shores. It is far enough off the beaten path to really get away from it all, yet close enough that a few nights out on the town are inevitable. The Beach Club is located about 15 miles out on the Fort Morgan peninsula, and boy is it in the middle of paradise. With the gulf on the front, and Mobile bay on the back side, you couldn’t get more surrounded by water. The vibe down Fort Morgan is also completely different that the rest of the world. The people really know how to relax down there. It is truly a laid back local spot where the locals hide and play when the summer season is in full swing. The Beach Club has so many amenities too, you could actually spend your whole trip on the grounds, and be none the wiser. With two great eateries, and tons of activities for the kiddos, why would you ever want to go anywhere else. Not to mention the beach, it is absolutely a fisherman’s paradise. Gulf Shores Beach Portraits

Sometimes all you need in your life is a little sand between your toes and some time with your sister. With that all the problems of the real world just slip away. Nothing more relaxing than a vacation, especially when that vacation is in paradise and you have your family by your side. As a local, we can sometimes get caught up in the saying we often hear down here, “It’s just another day in paradise!” Though we hear it often, it sometimes is hard to imagine that we get to work in such an amazing place. Our little island is small, but it is also home to one of the coolest beaches in the world. I have seen a lot, but none have the type sand that we do. Gulf Shores Family Portraits

Welcome to the dog days of summer. It’s so hot in the middle of the country right now you could fry and egg in the parking lot. What todo to stay cool you ask? That is a no brainer… You get on the phone and you book your family a visit to paradise. The breeze is always cool at the beach, and the water is just oh so right. Plus you get a break from the real world for a little while. It is a win win for the whole entire family. At least that is how we see it. Professional Beach Photographer

A happy smile is a indicator of many things. Not only is it saying the person smiling is happy, but others around that person are happy. Take for instance our family from last night’s sunset. When big brother was smiling and happy, little sister was smiling and happy. When both the kids where smiling and happy, mom was smiling and happy. When mom was smiling and happy, dad was smiling and happy. The old saying is true, a smile is really contagious! When one person in the family is not smiling and happy, that overflows to the rest of the bunch. It only takes one bad apple to ruin the whole bunch. Senior Beach Portraits

One of my absolute favorite sessions is Senior Beach Portraits. I am just crazy about senior sessions on the beach. These sessions are very special to us because we love rocking them. Senior portrait sessions are not something to be taken lightly. These images can truly shape a teenagers whole life and make a big impact on how they are remembered by their classmates. That sounds a little funny, but think of it this way, fifty years from now when a classmate is trying to refresh memories on who is who, the first thing they pull out is the old conglomerate yearbook. When they get to the best picture in the book, and they are like “Oh I remember her, she had these awesome senior pictures at the beach while my images were done in a corn field and by the old barn!” Instant memory overload of who the refresher course was all about. Having the best senior shots is crucial. Sure we might be overstating just a bit, but hey, it could happen. Toes in the Sand!

What is more simple than toes in the sand? In my mind there is absolutely nothing better in life than a hot summer day with the sun shining on your face, the wind blowing your hair, and your toes in the sand. Add some waves lapping at your ankles, and you have what we like to call a great vacation. With your family by your side, life just doesn’t get any better than this. I am pretty sure some guy even wrote a song about it because it is just so good. It is what most people dream about when you are stuck behind a computer with the kids in summer day camp. When life gets too hectic, it is just so easy to recharge by simple putting your toes in the sand. A simple task with tons of reward.
